InsightVideo Privacy Policy

InsightVideo may collect limited technical data to maintain service quality:

• Device Identifier: A randomly generated ID to distinguish sessions without linking to your real identity.
• Account Information: When you choose Google sign-in, we receive your account identifier, email address, display name, and profile image from Google through Supabase so we can authenticate you and keep account-based usage and subscription access consistent.
• Usage Statistics: Basic metrics required to enforce daily usage limits and prevent API abuse.
• Anonymous Product Analytics: App screens and feature actions, processing stages, error codes, platform, region, and app version. The random device identifier is converted to a salted one-way hash before analytics storage. Submitted URLs, transcripts, and summary content are not stored in analytics events.
• Video URLs: YouTube URLs submitted by you for the sole purpose of processing a summary.
• Video Transcripts: Available transcript text may be processed by our AI provider and stored with generated summaries to operate the knowledge-base cache.
• Share Metrics: Shared summary links record an aggregate view count and last-viewed time.

Collected data is used strictly for technical performance and core features:

The InsightVideo Chrome extension reads only the active YouTube video URL, title, video identifier, and player timestamp needed to create a user-requested summary and jump to a selected key moment. It does not collect unrelated browsing history. Authentication tokens, extension preferences, and your local summary list are stored in Chrome local storage. Submitted YouTube URLs and the transcript required for summarization are sent over HTTPS to InsightVideo's backend and the service providers identified below.

InsightVideo's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use this information only to provide or improve the extension's disclosed video summarization features. We do not use or transfer it for personalized advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or sale to data brokers, and we do not permit humans to read it except with explicit user consent for support, when required for security or legal compliance, or in an aggregated and anonymized form for internal operations.

To provide premium AI insights, InsightVideo interfaces with the following infrastructure providers:

InsightVideo stores your personal history and app preferences locally on your device. Video metadata, transcripts, and generated summaries may also be retained securely in our service knowledge base so repeated requests do not require another AI generation. Anonymous product events are retained only as needed to understand product performance and improve reliability. Public share pages expose only a limited preview, never the complete stored Markdown.
